Universal Self Organized Learning

New learning theories applied!

We offer a  place for hyprid learning
we are building a community of lifelong learners–
we evolve into whole brain learners

Educational goals and standards in our society and institutions are set as high as ever - yet the practice of learning - the ways to reach these goals have not met with great success and demonstrated grave limitations.

Learning today is generally understood and practiced by following prescribed ways of memorization and regurgitation to meet test requirements. Learning is also too often narrowed down to the acquisition of a single set of skills or the pursuit of a specific discipline under exclusion of all other areas of our information and knowledge resources.

universal self organised learner

We are introducing the concept of universal self organized learning for the practice of deeper and more comprehensive learning. It is facilitated by the active use of larger memory banks in our brain and developed by applying whole brain learning approaches in processing information. It is not a new, rather a re-learning concept.

The universal self-organized learner will revive a mode of learning used innately by everyone in early childhood: The storing of experience and knowledge driven by motivators depending on the learner's imagination - applying a sense of

discovery - rediscovery - curiosity - spontaneity - enthusiasm - creativity.

These motivators as part of the learning process are largely minimized in later years of learning in direct proportion to a diminished use of right brain skills and increased institutional learning demands based on  left brain skills. Whole brain learning is fully functioning in the toddler, pre-schooler and beginning grade schooler, on the decline during the end of grade school, highly lacking during middle- and high school, and rarely found in higher and postgraduate education.

Rediscovery of this lost learning dimension enables the learner at any age to cope with today's information overload, organize and link information, and to function in current educational technology environments on a higher level than most traditional learning environments offer or allow. The universal self-organized learner embraces autonomous learning.

Methods and learning theories will clarify universal self-organized learning, but the words themselves as defined in our dictionaries convey powerful meanings. From this source we can literally renew concepts to live by and apply to everyday strategies.

Definitions according to Webster’s Dictionary and Roget’s Thesaurus:

Universal"a broad and basic rule of truth;"/ "comprehensive; wide in scope; widely adaptable or effective in different directions" - meaning: a trend, trait or condition accepted across borders and boundaries on a wordwide basis.

Self-organized "expressing reflective action: on or to oneself or itself" in regard to "setting up, combining, uniting separate elements into a smoothly working unit" – meaning:an innate process of ordering or harmonizing different facts into interrelated unities functioning wholistically as an underlying principle in knowledge formation.

Learning "acquire knowledge or skill (in); become informed (of) or acquainted (with); memorize;"/ "master, pick up, receive instructions in, become able; find out, determine, discover, detect, unearth, ascertain;" – meaning: a cycle of primary and secondary brain functions transforming sensory perceptions and multiple information input into theoretical and applicable knowledge

Universal self-organized learning is in essence the total expression and application of the definitions above.

Our learner is not identified as a specific group or audience, but can be found in any part and structure of our society. Universal life-long learning has the power and energy to permeate our social web globally.
