Turning The Kaleidoscope ...

A course designed for learning how to shift perspectives in assessing learning styles and communication patterns by applying the concept of multiple intelligences developed by Howard Gardner

Howard Gardner has introduced the concept of multiple intelligences. His books have helped many teachers raising student performance. They also have stimulated independent adult learners to more satisfying and in-depth learning.(see also: Multiple intelligences in our Resource Center)

Gardner's view of human intelligence as multi-faceted has led to the acknowledgement of different pre-dominant learning styles in different learners. When content presentation adjusts to these differences a higher profile of learning results occurs.

Using the multiple intelligences approach in learning has equal benefits for group learning and individual study. It encourages the use of imagination and creative thinking before arriving at solutions of problems or memorization of facts. Imagination and creative thinking will stir the inner, often unique, reserves of an individual learner. What is learned is perceived as an experience and will stay in the memory far longer or forever in contrast to the boring activity of cramming, memorizing, and regurgitating facts for a test.

Our course attempts to teach the concept and application of multiple intelligences online. Live interaction in a classroom might be missed, but the stimulation of the learner's imagination can be more focused and produce better creative thoughts.

We are working with artistic tools: storytelling, character development, dramatic visualizations. Future technology developments will replace the written story with a CD where the story is told with the accompaniment of sound and visual images. Learners are encouraged to get into the creative swing of it - there is a fair amount of creative writing involved.

The goals of the course are

  • to raise awareness and practice of multiple intelligences

  • to arrive at new insights as to how we learn, interact and communicate

  • to hone skills in whole brain and collaborative learning

Anybody interested in learning will benefit from the course but it is particularly designed for the teacher, trainer or any group leader.

The course is designed in the style of a 6 week intensive seminar comparable to a 12 week/3credit semester course. The participant has the choice of taking it for full credit either

in one stretch -  $350.00  or
in two segments - part one   $200.00
part two  $200.00

Fees are subject to change depending on technical and managerial improvements.
