The Distance Education and Training Council

The Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) is a non-profit clearinghouse for information about distance study and correspondence education. Its Accrediting Commission established in 1955 and approved by the US Department of Education has accredited more than 60 non-profit and for-profit distance learning institutions. The DETC also conducts a professional development program for distance study educators, as well as seminars and conferences. Last update: February 2001
