Technology Education & Communication, Inc. (TECI) was founded in 1995. The company's mission is to offer educational services utilizing technologies and communication skills to meet the multiple new demands of:
1. the workforce in an emerging global society, 2. the information/knowledge age, and 3. the persisting changes in searching for new educational paradigms.
The company's main focus is distance learning: the most profound change in defining learning environments over the last 20 years, and still in its infancy of development.
TECI has developed its website - cristalla.com - emphasizing methodologies for distant learners toward independent thinking and self-organized learning.
Educational services are offered online: courses, discussions, seminars, workshops, theatre labs and offline: lectures, seminars, workshops.
The company's main principals are Alistair M. Brett, PhD who contributes a wide range of experience in technology transfer management and teaching science on the university level; and
Erika G. Feulner, MA who has been a lifelong pioneer in applying innovative teaching and learning techniques to diverse audiences and who specializes in writing web-based curricula. The web-development team include an experienced information specialist and expert graphic artist.
TECI/cristalla.com works within a larger net of alliances and short-term, task-related associates.
Recent Projects
1. Development of an educational website: Climate and Health Information Exchange (CHIEX) under the sponsorship of the Collaborative Research Network (CRN) for Diagnostics and Prediction of Climate Variability and Human Health in the Tropical Americas.
2. Development of an educational website: Online Training in Malaria Control under the sponsorship of the World Health Organization (WHO).
3. Workshop/lecture and student project supervision in Distance Learning for a number of institutions within the Ukrainian Distance Learning System. TECI served as subcontractor of a U.S. State Department cooperative agreement.
4. Online Extension Programs (ongoing) as result of previous USAID and other US and European contracts with Russia, sponsoring Technology Transfer Training and Incubator formation.
5. Co-authorship and educational consulting in the book: "Ecosystem Change and Public Health - A Global Perspective" - ed. Joan Aron and Jonathan Patz. Maryland: Johns Hopkins University Press. 2001
